The diagnosis of breast cancer is and can be devastating news to a patient and her family. Because of this, a detailed review of her pathology report and all of its implications are important to her initial understanding of her cancer. The treatment options and the order in which we do treatment is then discussed in detail. We supply the patient with the National Comprehensive Cancer Networks Treatment Guidelines for further study and reference. A Breast Health Navigator helps patients through this process as we begin to evaluate and treat her cancer. At the Coastal Carolina Breast Center, we believe that spending time to prepare our patients and their families for what to expect will ease their minds and give them hope for the future.
